What is the Gospel?
Simply stated, the Gospel is the good news of the redeeming work of God through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
What is the “good news?” It is that Jesus Christ died and was raised again for you and me so that we, through faith in Jesus, might be delivered from eternal condemnation because of our sin, and thus, we might live eternally in the presence of God.19
- Sin came into the world through the disobedience of Adam — original sin.
- We are all sinful, *(through imputed sin from Adam) and need to be redeemed from sin to be in the presence of God.
- Jesus is true God and true man in one person. (100% God and 100% man.)
- Jesus is the only begotten son of God.
- Jesus died physically on the a cross to redeem our sins.
- Jesus physically rose from the dead in three days.
- Jesus physically ascended into heaven.
- The church (the body of believers) awaits the return of Jesus in the clouds.
- Those who trust (place their faith, believe) in Jesus as Savior will have eternal life in with Him in heaven.
- Those who deny (reject) Jesus will be cast out of His presence and spend eternity in the Lake of Fire.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.“
*As a result of Adam’s sin we all enter the world with a fallen sinful nature. This is original sin–the sinful tendencies, desires, and dispositions which are in our hearts with which we are all born. Therefore, original sin is something inherent in us (imputed sin)–it is a morally ruined character. The original sin that we are all born with manifests itself throughout our lives in actual sins–the actions, thoughts, and feelings we have that violate God’s moral commands.
